Today, the arts need skilled managers who are leaders. Webster UniversityÕs master of fine arts (MFA) in arts management and leadership develops professional, enlightened, and imaginative leadership valued by arts institutions. Program graduates are enriched with an understanding of both the creative and business aspects of the arts to ensure a sound foundation for the future of the community through non-profit management or teaching. Through close mentorships, personal interactions, and small class sizes, students are provided with unique and intimate perspectives from experienced arts leaders. Internship and volunteer opportunities provide students with practical and meaningful outside experiences. The convenient class times oaf this accelerated degree are designed around the schedule of the working professional. Graduates use their knowledge, skills, and MFA credentials to take the arts to new levels of financial and cultural success. Degree Requirements The MFA in arts management and leadership is a 45-credit-hour program that cam be completed in two academic years. A thesis relation to the student's interest in the field is required. Students have two years after finishing course work to complete thesis. Due to the revolving course schedule, accepted students may start the program at the beginning of the Fall 1, Fall 2, Spring 1 or Spring 2 terms. Classes are held on Monday and Tuesday nights. There are two sessions, each with a different course, in each semester for a total of 10 sjubject courses and six seminar classes plus six additional credits for the thesis project and completion.
